The Rappahannock Board of Supervisors, meeting Wednesday morning, January 5th, discussed road problems and heard various reports given by the county officials. *
Supervisor Henry Wood emphasized, in the road discussion, the importance of improving the roads in his district. Several other supervisors 'reminded Resident Engineer P. D. Coldiron of weak spots in the county road system. W. C. Campbell, Hampton's Supervisor, made the motion to employ the Federal aid funds to improve Route 647 approximately 2 miles east of Route 522 near Flint Hill, to the Fauquier County, line. (Mr, Coldiron had previously explained the advisability of using these funds on this section, and state funds on the section that Mr. Wood had in mind.) Supprvisdr E. M. Estes asked that the speed limit in the main street of .Sperryville near the narrow bridge, be changed from 35 to 15 miles. He stated that 35 miles was excessive speed due tp the narrowness of the street and to the fact that numerous children live and play in this vicinity.
Chairman J. P. Cook and Mr, Campbell asked that the situation at the curve at Massie’s Corner be looked into, quoting the number of wrecks that have occured there. Mr. Cook asked of Mr. Coldiron the advisability of moving the sign. Mr. Coldiron felt that this would not remedy the situation and reminded the board that vehicles should by virtue of the ..stop sign, have slowed to a safe speed for rounding the corner.
