Billy Smoot has reported that as ho was driving: to his homo in » Harris Hollow Monday evening,. April 2, that a fox showing symptoms of rabies ran oat in the road and attacked Ms ear.
A rabid fox was killed near the home of Mr. William Payne* at Ben Venue on Saturday, March 31st. This fox had attacked several dogs in Mr. Payne’s yard.

The number of cases of rabies in animals is high. Reports from throughout the State bring out the fact that the incidence of the disease is greatest among foxes.
Rabies is a disease that must be controlled at the , local level and ordinances directed toward control are me responsibility of governing bodies of counties and cities. Compulsory vaccination of dogs to prevent introduction of the disease ' from wildlife, destruction of strays and trapping of foxes are the chief measures employed.
Prevalence of rabies in animals is the potential source of transmission to man. There is no treatment for the disease; all efforts must be directed to prevention. Last year the State Department of Health issued 984 seven-dose packages of anti- rabies vaccine for prevention in persons exposed. JAttention
