Most of us kiiow by heart the beautiful nativity story as told for us in the New Testament books of Matthew and Luke, but do we know the meaning back of the story. These two writers give us a hint of the real reason for the coming of Christ, but to find it made much clearer we need turn to the Gospel according to St John. ' It is in the fourth verse of the first chapter we find these words; “In Him was life; and the life was the light of men." It was this life He brought to men that made the coming of Jesus have real meaning. He came to show us the Father , and to be an example for us, so that we would know the type of living that could bring joy to our hearts, not just at Christmas, but every day of the year.

The ang*l said, “Behold! I bring you good tidings of great joy, . . . for unto you is \jorn this day in the city of David a savior, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2 i\0-11) We should'thank God for that heavenly announcement, for_ since that time the Christian has had the bells of joy nAps ; ing their music of faith and .hope in his heart throughout' the’years.
