Selected on the basis of leadership and outstanding 4-H Club work this group of senior 4-11 Club members, between the ages of 14 and 19, attending this junior leadership camp represent the best in 4-H work. Coming from as far west Lee county, a distance of over 500 miles, and as far north as \V nchester many of the campers spent two days enroute to camp.
At camp, under the guidance of 30 leaders, county agents, home demonstration agents, and other professional workers who volunteer their services, the boys and girls are receiving instruction on all phases of conservation, both of natural and human resources. Theme of the week’s activities is “Stewardship of our God-Give.^ Resources.” In addition to classes on human resources, soil and water conservation forestry, wildlife conservation, and entomology there is also instruction on various handicrafts, dancing, and recreation leadership.
For maii)\of the campers, particularly those from the western part of the state, one of the outstanding activities is swimming in the surf of die Atlantic Ocean and sunning on the wide clean, beach. Campfire programs, square dancing, field trips, and volley ball games keep the campers On the go about every hour of the day. In the evening a vesper service, conducted by tha campers themselves, ties together the thoughts and teachings of the day and allows the boys and girls to express their feelings about the ‘‘Stewardship of Our God-Given Resources.”
