Answers, to questions received frequently which may help many of you homemakers are: ^ r What causes poultry bones to darken and redden in freezing? A. Freezing and thawing which breaks down the blood cells of the bone marrow and cause a deep reddish color to show. Studies of this problem were conducted at the Iowa Experiment Station several' years ago. The bones that show this discoloration were those of young birds. How can you rerrfove white spots caused by water spilled on furniture? . A. Rub with a soft cloth dipped in linseed oil, then in pumice. Rub with a mixture of equal parts of turpentine, vinegar and linseed oil to clean the whole surface.
When shopping for soap beans, be sure they ‘‘snap” rather than bend. If they bend instead of snap, ^ it is an indication that they have ~■ been off the vine too long, or are just too old for reallv good eating.

Sprinkle fish or lamb with lemon juice a few minutes before cooking to bring out the delicate “flavors. The lemon juice also cuts down on odors and helps tenderize the meat. « • ,
