Club and Mrs. Johnson, home economics teacher introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Jessie Cox, who gave the history of the old part of the high school building which was opened in the fall of 1908, hence this part of the building is 50 years old this falL
Mrs. Cox was one of the five first graduates, the others being Mrs. C J. Miller, nee Acksah Dudley, valedictorian; Mrs. Judith Miller Avery of Winchester, salutetorian; Mrs. Marguerite Heterick Wilson, Smithfield, Val, histofian Mrs. Jessie Cox, Poetess and Dr. Edward Keyser, dentist, deceased, of JFront Royal, class prophet. Mrs. Cox explained the struetjure of the firSt building; the prinjcipal, Mr. A. C. Kinder and its teachers throughout the years^ naming about fourteen principles since its organization." 1
She expressed her delight atj having lived sixty-four years; teaching thirty-three years here! in the Rappahannock - Warren Division and still amember of the i faculty, having been Postmaster j here from 1922 to 1934 serving s the public. Her maxim, “Service j Is A Pleasure.” ■, j, ... ■ :
Lastly she made reference to, our new high school in progress and said it will soon be built by those who care and share. A parade of fashions followed, dating from 1908 to the present. TTie home ec girls modeled die clothes which they have made in school this year. T,
