Mr. Johnson was born and reared on the farm where he now lives. He is the owner and operator of this farm on whiich he raises . beef cattle and has an apple orchard. He is a successful farmer who possesses good sound judgement and who knows farming conditions and needs of fanners in his county. Mr. Johnson is also chief forest warden for Rappahannock County;
R. W. Hancock, county supervisor for FHA, says that Mr. Johnson’s experience and knowledge will enable him to make a real contribution to the FHA services in Rappahannock County. -
Serving with Mr. Johnson during the coming year will be G. M. Black, manager of Mt. Vernon Farm, Sperryville (Grade A dairy and orchard farm),* and J. lvar Jacobs, general livestock farmer, *-»-• near Viewtown.
There is a Farmers Home Administration county committee ^•aerving every agricultural in the •country. All loan applications must fee approved by the committee before funds can be advanced. The committee also helps the county . supervisor adapt the agency’s loan policies and services to local conditions.
The Farmers Home Adminis- • tration makes loans to farmers to buy livestock and machinery, to finance annual operating costs, to improve buildings and fences, and «• to purchase land. x The Agency also lends money to farmers or their non-profit associations to establish and carry out approved soil and water conservation practices, as well as for installing and improving irrigation and farmstead water supply facilities.
