Superintendent R. Taylor Hos-1 and subsequent promotion of; kins has announced the transfer Ranger Edwin Field Benton, Shenandoah National Park, to Cape Hatteras National Recreation. Seashore Area, North Carolina.
Mr. Benton, a native of Madison County, Virginia, has served the Federal Government in various capacities for the past 20 years. His career with Shenandoah National Park has been imterrupted by custodial duties with the Smithsonian ‘Institution at Shenandoah National Park from 1942 until 1943 and by military service in the nited States Coast Guard from 1943 and 1945. Since February' 1946, he has been employed in' various capacities at Shenandoah National Park, including duties as a Fire Guard and Dispatcher. Seasonal Park Ranger, and Blister Rust Control Checker, until he entered on duty in February 1959 as a permanent Park Ranger. In 1947, he was detailed to the suppression of the Acadia National Park forest fire which was described in his letter of commendation as a fire which was incomparable in NPS history as it involved so much serious; damage to property other than forests, and “never has there been one which damaged such a great proportion of any Park Service Area.’’ (This will be troyed.) remembered also as the Bar HarFeeder

At a feeder cattle sale held at Madison Livestock Market Friday, October 20th, 1,110 head of aftle were sold for a total of $$142,000. The top pen of 31 steer calves brought $30.
