Kid Pan Alley started right here in Rappjihannock County in 1999 when I. us a local musician, walked into a classroom at fcippuhannock County Elementary School.
At the end of the day, t here were five new songs and my music career as the leader of Trapezoid had taken a hairpin turn. Those 80 songs 1 wrote with the children turned into an album, “Tidal Wave of Song.” Ever since. Kid Pan Alley hits created a tidal wave of uver 1.000 stings with over 20,‘X)0 '-hildren across the country.
Now we’ve got a new CD, “I Used lb Know The Names Of All The Stars” that will be released at concerts at the Paramount Theatre in Charlottesville on Oct. 4. The album features songs written with the children of Charlottesville and Albemarle County performed by some of the amazing artists that call the areu home including: Cracker, Sissy Spacek, Jesse Winchester. Corey Harris, John McCutcheon. Sparky’s Flaw, Terri Allard, Trees on Fire, along with myself and the Kid Pan Alley Band. Many of the artists and children will perform in the concerts at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The concerts are the culmination of Kid Pan Alley week in Charlottesville that begins with Kid Pan Alley as the beneficiary of the Foxfield Fall Races gala on Sept. 26 along with a number of other special events.
