In 18691 think we came to Carroll county. It was there I started the first dray the town ever had—one horse one. Left Carroll in 1871 we came to Audubon county, where it has been our home ever since. Many people lived in the north end of the county in what was oalled dug-outs at that time. There are now living in this county some who have seen those dug-outs. There was no railroad here and mail was brought up from Atlantic by stage, and there are many residents now living in this county whom I hauled up from Atlantic on the hack. I was hack driver for nearly four years. Iu 1870 I think it was the Bock Island was built to Audubon. THEO. PATTY.
