Several days afterward Mrs. Brooke handed an open typewritten sheet to her husband across the library table, with the remark: "Here is the letter you wrote to your sister, Harry. She has returned it to me for an explanation. She says she doesn't know whether you are joking or misinformed or crazy, or all three."
