The engineering department is well supplied with buildings and equipment. Engineering hall, a fireproof building of Bedford stone erected at a cost of $220,000, is the best engineering building west of the Mississippi. It is used for offices, lecture rooms, and laboratories. The engineering annex is a two-tory fireproof building. It contains the dynamo laboratory, mining engineering laboratories, and drafting and instrument rooms. A Ceramics building provides rooms for clay working, kilns, and for the chemical work of the engineering experiment station. In addition to these there are a number of smaller buildings such as foundries, forge and machine shops, etc.
