Lester Nethers, 68. formerly of Nethers Mill# but who had made his home in Winchester for a number of years, died Sunday, February 26 in Winchester. Services were heid Wednesday, February 28 from Jones Funeral Home. Burial was in ML Hebron cemetery^ -Winchester with services conducted by Rev. John Oliver and Re^P. Grover Jenkins.
Surviving: are: his widow and three children Mrs. Mary E. Nethers Dorsey, Paul and Harry Nethers all of Winchester; one sister, Mrs. Clyde Bowers, of Culpeper and two brothers Robert and George Nethers, of Rappahannock.
Amony those from Rappahannock attending: the services were Mr. and Mrs. George Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Updike, Mr. and. Mrs. Robert Nethers and a great many friends and relatives.
Missionary Society Met :
With Mrs. Charles Wood
The Julia Hagood Missionary Society met at the home of Mrs. Charles Wood Friday evening, with ten members present. Mrs. William Gilbert was chairman of the program which was “Go Quickly and Tell,” Mrs. B. J. Wood Vas chairman of a special home mission program, a collection was also taken up for this mission. Mrs. M. E. Sligo* gave a report on the regional all-day meeting in Culpeper. It was also discussed about getting a Sunbeam band. They hope to start, the band in early Spring.
Flint Hill P.-T. A. Holds
Regular Meeting
At the regular March meeting of the Flint Hill P.-T. A., at which a majority of the active members were present, there was not a dissenting vote to the following resolution: Be it resoulved that the Flint Hill P.-T. A. goes on record as asking the supervisor of this district to -vote for the necessary increase in' taxes to raise funds for a new county high school.
810.00 was voted by the association for new records for the school; $6.00 for library books; and $3.00 for the county agent’s office for the purchase of Smokey heal* comic books.
The treasurer reported the gross intake from the play “Brides to Burn" was $171.60. The playground committee, Charles Wood, chairman, announced that the new swings for the playground would be completed this week.
A committee was appointed to make plans for a permanent set-, ting for the stage for the school auditorium. The wallboard is to be donated by John S. Browning, and the lumber by G. W. Smith, Jr., the P.-T. A. men offered their services for the work.
