Miss Betty Lou Rutherford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Rutherford of Washington, became the bride of Solomon Earl Bruce, son of Solomon Bruce of -- Washington ,Va. in a beautiful ceremony performed Saturday at 2 in the afternoon in the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church, Sperryville. The Reverend A. Paul Thompson officiated.
The bride’s gown, of white satin and netting with a lace bodice, had gracious prints that extended dowmthe skirt, which fell in folds to the floor. A tiny headpiece of seeded pearl with finger tip veil adorned the blonde beauty. She carried a white orchid with • a purple penter, on a Bible, with tiny chrysanthemum buds and white streamers. The church was a lovely setting, decorated simply with white chrysanthemums and evergreens, with a sprinkling of ivy. ' The matron of honor, Mrs. Earl F. Starner, a sister*of the bride, wore a dress of coral taffeta and netting, with a velvet , bodice and jacket. Her . flowers were yellow chrysanthemums with ^natural wheat. Mrs. Claude F. -Fox, a sister of the groom, was the > bridesmaid. Her taffeta dress was of French blue and she carried red chrysanthemums with natural . wheat.
Ushers for the ceremony were Claude F. Fox, brother-in-law of the groom, Earl F. Starner of Washington, D.C., and Bradley Dodson of Amissville.
