Help At Harvesting
. The labor shortage for handling Rappahannock’s apple crop is being relieved, to some extent by laborers from Alabana and Florida. They are both white and Negro. Around thirty of them are reported to be employed in the Washington area, and about that number in other sections of the county.
The bousing is furnished by the employer, the laborers bring their own bedding and cooking equipment and do their own housekeeping., - ! ■
Retail stores in the towns report that they are good customers.
Rappahannock’s major industry apples, is. in ull swing these days, with packing houses in the county working overtime to handle the crop, which is reported average and of good quality.
