For the past two, years a special prize has been awarded the individual bringing in the most entries. This year Miss Lizzie Har- ■ rison of Brightwood was the recipient of the prize for having entered 48 different entries. However. Mrs Clifton Hill of Criglersvflle was a close runner-up with 41 entries. Both of these ladies are residents of Madison Countv. Other special awards were made to the winning elementary schools of the four counties. Each elementary’ school was given space to enter one joint exhibit. The schools winning the three silver cups were Orange Graded School. William Holmes. Principal. First; Madison Elementary School, E. T. Wheeler. Principal, second; and Lightfoot Elementary School. J. Austin Drew, . Principal, third. The elementary exhibits were extremely good. However, we hope to have a higher percentage of participation in the coming year.
There were two special attractions this year. On Friday, the Carver Hawks clashed with the W. C Taylor Eagles of Warrenton in a gridiron contest. The Hawks having played outstanding defensive ball all season, took to the offensive and easily won over the Eagles 13—0. On Saturday. Gerald Starks or the Orange Nats bested George Love of the Culpep Dragons in a pitching dual with the Nats winning 4-^-3. The Carver High Band, under the directorship of R. W. Cole, performed brilliantly during the fair.
