Seed small grain and ryegrass or a mixture of small grain and ryegrass for late ' fall, winter, and early spring pasture. Seed small "rain alone if to be used for 'grazing and saved for grain. This mixture may follow Sudan grass, millet. corn silage, or any other early •harvested crop. Seed during August or earlv September. Use a mixture of 2 to 4 bushels of small grain ner acre. You may wish to add 1 S pounds of ryegrass and 15 pounds of crimson clover in eastern Virginia. Fertilize at the rate of 60 to SO pounds each of nitrogen. phosphate, and potash per acre. This woidd be 600 to 800 pounds of a 10-10-10, or the equivalent. Cirowfh in addition to that needed for pasture mav be harvested for silage, hay or grain.
