Market Adopts Outweight
System
Of interest to all owners of livestock in Rappahannock County was the announcement today by Douglas W. Tucker, Manager of the Madison Livestock Market, of a change to the outweight system at the weekly livestock auctions, starting Saturday, September 28, 1957. In use for many years throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, and North Carolina, this system has permitted packers to pay farmers a higher price for their cattle, sheep and hogs, than has been he case at the weekly Virginia auctions.
