Fire Company Elects

At a recent meeting of the Washington Fire Company,. new officers for the year 1958. L. V. Merrill was; elected Chief; Irving ‘ Sisk, Assistant Chief: Morgan Johnston, Hose Captain, T*he Rev. J. R, Frizzell, Jr„ was reelected Secretary-Treasurer. Luther Paync and Charlie Jenkins, out-' ■ going Chief and Ass't, Chief were ' thanked for the help and leadership that they had given the Company during their term in office.

Much discussion at the meeting centered around plans for the annual Firemen's* Carnival which will be held in early June. The Company voted to buy a car to be given* as a prize and selected a green and. white Ford,' four-door sedan complete with radio and heater. The car will be ordered immediately and tickets for it will go on sale about the first of February, _ • ■

The Company felt that it would be necessary to buy a new fire truck in the near future, if it is to continue to give the community efficient fire protection. Since this will : inyolve considerable cost, every effort will he made to make this year's carnival the best ever so that thg needed money can be . raised.
