All violations will be treat,ed rigidly and impartially. ri Each year, spring forest fires do a tremendous amount of damage to forests, wildlife, and water-; sheds in Virginia. This law is designed to curtail the damage done by these fires. By burning after 4 jp,m., the chances of the fire escaping are less than in the middle of ]the day. In the late afternoon, the wind velocity generally decreases, and the humidity rises. These two factors are instrumental in forest fire danger and rate of spread. The public is urged to cooperate with the personnel of the Virginia Division of Forestry in complying with this law. Since, the forest industry is one of the leading industries in the State, it is to the advntage of everyone to protect our fores| and wildlife from this needless waste.
