v Sunday night at about guarter past /eleven, I took my^ usual before-going-to-bed look outside. A soft rain had begun to fall from clouds moving in off the Blue Ridge. Behind me, in the East a three-quarter moon shone brightly, not yet obscured by the clouds. As I stood on the front | porch I noticed in the West a thin arc of white, traversing Ia third of the sky, from horizon to horizon; It appeared to start at Kirby Hitt’s house and end at Fletcher Carpenter’s, ju?t beyond thoroughfare Mountain, , . I called my Wife to come see it, and we watched and wondered what it could be. The white bow lasted only ten minutes or so in the black sky, then slowly faded from sight, being about equally ignorant in the -matter of scientific phenomena, we could only guess that what we had seen was a “moonbow.” We wonder if any of our readers saw the same thing and if so what is the phenomena called? t I- B.C.B.
