Under such practices, taat nave long grown up'in the insurant industry,'due dates are largely N meaningless. It is high time that this > situation was tightened up. The date set for the payment of a premium, should be the date when it is due and no fooling. There should not be any attempt or pressure brought to bear to collect before the time actually due. But, if~4>ot paid on that date, there should be a pepaity assessed to avoid cancellation. The company .. would then have its premium income at the time it is supposed to get it, the policy holder'would retain control of his premium funds fot the mpyimiim permissibe time and the agent would derive his income, as he could, from commissions on sale of policies instead of acting as a banker or middleman holding premium funds that are not his and which he has done nothing to justify controlling. The best hope for lasting recovery lies in the abandonment of loose practices and the return to motives of service and sound value „ in all industries.
