Birthday Dinner To
Be Held Friday 23rd
Washineton Methodist Church will have their annual George Washington Birthday Dinner on Friday, February 23rd at the parish hall in Washington, Va., be ginning at 5 p.m. and lasting until 7 p.m. The price will be $1.25 for adults and 75c for children. The menu will consist of country ham and roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, home made rolls, and assorted home made pies. The public is cordially invited to come and help celebrate our first president’s birthday.

In South Viet-Nam
Sp6 Earl W. Burke, son of Mrs. Mary E. Burke of Washington, Va., is among the 4,000 men from the United States armed forces now stationed in South VietNam. This military command was established to help this hardpressed ally withstand a threten«l Communist conquest.
Sp6 Burke left Rhode Island by boat, crossed the Atlantic, the Mediterranean Sea, Suez Canal, Red Sea, Arabiatic Sea, and China Sea. He changed boats in the Philippines and landed in Viet-Nam, 12,000 miles from home after a voyage of 35 days.
He reports the country is a lot like Korea and it has rained every day. The weather is very warm.
Sp6 Burke enlisted in the Army almost fourteen years ago. IHe has been stationed in Germany and Korea.
