A few years ago a newspaper article on ski injuries wculd have been of personal interest only to a relatively few people in the mountain areas of the northern fringe of the United -States: In the Winter of 1961-62 skiing has grown to major proportions and Americans over a wide section of the nation are heading for the slopes and runs on winter weekends. Artificial snow machines make skiing possible even in areas that have little or no snow, and many fans are traveling long distances to the mountain

Get and stay in good physical condition, and don’t be dVer-confident in estimating skiing ability, and you’re not likely to suffer serous injury.
Ski experts advise several weeks of daijy exercise before braving the slopes.Ten minutes a day of knee bends, tde-walking, deep waist bends and a few push-ups will condition the body for simple skiing. For the thigh muscles sit on the edge of the table and lift the legs, straightening them out slowly. Add light weights to each foot and keep up the exercise.
Beginners are cautioned to take slu lessons from an expert instructor. Learn controlled skiing, learning how to check your speed and learning to avoid feats beyond your ability. Never ski alone. A buddy an go for help in case of accident. __
