It was a hot day, and the disciples were very tired. There had been pushing crowds all morning, and it seemed that they would never rest. Now, just when it looked as if they would go down to the well for a cool drink, along came a whole pack of little street urchins. Just run of the mill children, what could they want of the Master? With a weary gesture, the disciples sent them away. And then, from the background cranes a voice which bespeaks authority in its softness . . . “suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not. For of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
Norman Duncan once said, “Whoso loves a child loves not himself but God; whoso delights a child labors with God in His workshop of the world of hearts; whoso helps a child brings the Kingdom of God; whoso saves a child from the fingers of evil sits in the seat with the builders of cities and the procurers of peace." WANTED— Parents who will be as anxious to get their children to Sunday School as they are to get them to week-day school.
