*Four Cars Involved
In Past Week Mishaps
Two single-car crashes and one collision involving four vehicles have occurred In Rap pahannock in the past week. A collision involving four vehicles occurred Saturday night, a half mile west of Wash ington on Route 211. A Ford wrecker owned by Merrill Motor Company, Washington, operated by Steve Bailey was pushing a 56 Chevrolet, also owned by Merrill and operated by Clabert Smoot, Washington from a private drive into the east bound lane of Route 211. They were struck by a 64 Pon tiac station wagon operated by John- Franklin Long of Broadway. Another vehicle, a 63 Chevrolet operated by DeWitt Cupp of Harrisonburg, struck the Ford operated by Smoot. According to Trooper K. L. Miller, there were no injuries and damage was estimated at $15 to the wrecker; $300 to the Ford; $1,000 to the Pontiac and $100 to the Chevrolet. Bailey and Smoot were both charged with failing to yield the right of way, said Trooper Miller. v
Herman Vollmer of Chevy Chase, Md. over turned into the median strip on the dual lane section of Route 211 near Massles Corner Friday morning. According to Trooper J. B. Willis, Vollmer was operating a 66 Ford owned by Hertz, heading west when he ran off the right shoulder of the road. He cut back across the double lane and turned over, coming to rest on the median. He was charged with reckless driving said the officer. Floyd B. Hitt of Amissvllle ran off the road and through a fence Thursday morning on Route 522 near Huntly. He was operating a 67 Plymouth, according to Trooper W. A. Buntin who investigated. Hitt was not injured, but estimated damage to the vehicle was $700 ,,He was charged with failing to drive to the right of the road.
Beagle Field Trial Winners Announced
Rappahannock Fish and Game Club sponsored a Beagle Field Trial Saturday, November 12 at the farm of Clifton Clark, Woodville. About 37 dogs were entered in the trials Results of the trials: 13 inch class: first. Junior Lillard, Madison; second, J. R. Blankenbaker, Brlghtwood. third, Junior Lillard and1 fourth, Henry Smith, Etlan. The Game Club was assisted by Rappahannock Coon Club, and both organizations express appreciation to all who entered dogs, attended, or assisted in any manner to make the trials a success.
