First Seal Sale Report
Mrs. J. Richard Latham. Rap pahannock County Co-Chairman of the Tuberculosis i& Health Association of Northern Virginia reported that a total of $10,183.05 had been received from the area during the first four days of the Christmas Seal Campaign, which officially opened on No vember 16th. Contributions from this county added up to $210.50. The goal of the association this year is $40,000. "The help of all the people in the community is needed now more than ever to fight the contagious disease of tuberculosis, which is very much still with us, even though we have the methods to stamp it out. Only through public action can we be successful in our efforts in this field and expand our assistance in helping with emphysema, asthma, and chronic bronchitis", said the Seal Chairman. She also urged those who received Christmas Seal letters to send in their contribution as soon as possible and to keep all the extra seals, using them on holiday mail and packages.
"Christmas Seals are a reminder to fight TB and other respiratory diseases, and the more that are used, the more the word is passed on to others was the Chairman’s explanation.
Greens Sale Set
For December 17
The Rappahannock Garden Club will hold its annual bazaar and greens sale on December 17 at Trinity Episcopal parish hall, Washington, Va. This sale begins at 10 a.m. and will continue until 5 p.m. , A great and unique variety of door, table, mantle, window, etc. decorations have been made and many beautiful wreaths, including Della Robbia, always a specialty, will be available. Other decorations assembled are kissing balls, novelties, as elve^ candy filled dolls.
For these who prefer to design and make their own decorations, there will be baskets of various evergreens.
Among the items to be found on the bazaar table are home made candies and cookies.
Coffee and cookies will be served everyone during the sale and bazaar.
