Skyline Ski Area, Washington, Virginia is rapidly gearing itself for the coming season. Under new ownership and management, Skyline Ski Area has taken a new lease on life. Work is proceeding rapidly toward a vastly improved operation, with improved mechanical facilities and an enlarged snowmaking plant. Everything points to one of the best if not the best season Skyline has ever had.
Skyline’s largest slope, Catamount, is easily one of the best south of Pennsylvania. Served by a 2100 foot T-Bar, the slope drops over 500 feet in its 2400 foot length, offering a sufficiently steep incline to inspire the expert skiers. Two other slopes are tailored for the Intermediate and the beginner skiers. A large day lodge offering food and refreshments and a shop for the rental of ski equipment and a nursery completes the complex at Skyline.
The area is under the management of Colonel Evan A. McNear who invites Virginians to become skiers at Skyline. “It’s a great sport for beginners of all ages. People in our area should take advantage of the less crowded conditions on weekdays and come to learn to ski at Skyline.”
