DICK ROBERTSHAW of Front Royal was awarded the 1976 Ford given away at the Flint Hill Firemens carnival, which closed Saturday night after a four-night run. hi excess of $24,000 was grossed, according to Moe Walker, carnival chairman.
Other prizes given included $75 cash, which went to Jim McDonald of Hagerstown, Md., $50 Cash to Leo Armitage of Front Royal; and $25 cash to C.R. Maddox, also of Front Royal.
Mrs. Etta Estes of Washington was awarded the registered Angus and a $25 gift certificate from Trout’s Drug was given to Philip Wine of Front Royal. Juanita Russell of Orlean received the Redskin tickets and Randy Norman of Castleton won the bicentennial afghan made by Mrs. Evelyn Walker. A $25 cash prize went to Carl James of Amissville and the cash attendance prize of $100 went to Dick Latham of Amissville.
Winners in Thursday’s parade included Colonial Beach as the best appearing fire department from a town of over 500 population, with Shawnee of Frederick County second, and Greenwood of Frederick third; best appearing under 500 population was Tenth District, Marlboro, Md.; Amissville, second, and Madison, third.
Tenth District, Marlboro, was also the unit traveling longest distance and Brandy Station had the oldest piece of equipment. Remington had the best appearing brush truck and Rivermont the best appearing tanker.
