We learn, the gentlemen who made the trip were agreeably surprised at the lay of the land, and the fine condition of the road, between this city and Walnut. With the exception of a few spots which are easily fixed this road will be as good as the three R's via Atlantic. The picturesque scenery passed through between these two points is the grandest in all Iowa. In fact we don't know what we have missed by not making this portion of the road a part of the River to River Road before. Not only the natural scenery but farms with their living crops, cattle, horses and sheep. Large houses and large barns with all their equipments, and all settled by the thrifty and social Dane with no fighting at Walnut to destroy the pleasure of the trip, all adds to praise of Iowa as one of the best States in the Union, and to the River to River Road as the great Mid-Ocean route across the Continent.
