March Dimes Reports received from ninety six of the one hundred and seven treasurers of National Founda tion chapters in Virginia show that $430,769.82 has been spent on the care of polio patients during 1952. according to a statement made today by O. Lee Hodgkins. State Representative lor the National Foundation. These ninety-six chapters owe $131.768.54 in addition in unpaid bills at the close of the year. Hodgkins added, with over one half of the chapters virtually without funds at present and their 1953 March of Dimes mort gaged by this amount. There were 686 cases of polio ' reported to the State Health De partment in 1952. a small per centage of the 57,628 cases re ported nationally, which cost Foundation chapters over 28 mil lion dollars and leaves them owing over 7 million dollars.
