Gid Jenkins has returned from University Hospital, where he underwent an operation for appendicitis, and his many friends are glad that he is again able to be out and around.
Miss Eda Finks and her houseguest Mrs. Guy Dulaney spent Friday evening visiting the Miller sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dickensheets arrived Monday to spend a few days at their home at Slate Mills, .returning to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.

Tuesday evening Mrs. George A. Nethers was honored by a surprise birthday party given her at her home by Mrs. Mattie Snellings and Miss Bettie Hitt of Culpeper ; a* large group of neighbors, friends and relatives were present.
The meeting of the Slate Mills H.D. Club which was postponed by storm, was hold Friday evening at the' home of Mrs. R. J. Boyd. The president, Mrs. Joseph Powers, reported on the recent meeting which she attended at the Court House in Washington when the subject was “State Services in Virginia and How They are Paid For.” The demonstration was in charge of Mrs. Bernard C. Dorsey, who showed the many phases nf “Hnntino' Rues”.
