Mrs. V. R. Updike spent the week end in Martinsbutg, W. Va. to be near her husband, a patient in the Newton D. Baker Veterans Hospital there. Mrs. Ak M. Verner accompanied her daughter as far as Charles Town, where she remained as a guest of Mrs. Muriel Brockmann. (Mr. Updike, who has suffered a bout with virus pneumonia, is recovering satisfactorily.) _

Mrs. A. W. Yowell and Mrs. Harry Gallihugh attended the Madison Garden Club Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Roy Stricklcr was hostess to the club. Wednesday visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Mitchell were Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Barnett, Mrs. Douglas Mitchell and little daughter, and Mrs. Bowman of Orange.

Mr. and Mrs. James Yates and son, Jimmy were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Smith, Jr. and sons. Galley III and Charlie.

Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Revercomb spent the week end in Arlington with Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Revercomb, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Riddle, and Clyde and Russell Revercomb.

Mrs. Gilbert Weakley and Mrs. Harry Gallihugh called on Mrs. Jenny Miller and Mrs. Bertha Reese in Slate Mills Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Carl McMillan were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Yowell.

The Rev. and Mrs. A. Paul Thompson and little daughter,Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Mitchell and son, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dodson, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Yowell.

Miss Lou Ann Miller was an overnight guest Monday of Miss Dorothy Carpenter.

Mrs. H. P. Jenkins is spending a few days in Washington, D. C. with her son, Major Woodrow Jenkins. They left Sunday for a visit in Florida.

Sunday visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Festus Hudson were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hudson of Culpeper.

Miss Eda Finks, the Rev. A. Paul Thompson and Mrs. Bertha Reese were visitors of Miss Lizzie Miller in the University of Virginia Hospital Wednesday night.

Mrs. Brown Miller and Mrs. Elva Berry, of Criglersvile, were i n Richmond Wednesday, o n business.

Misses Holly Updike and Dorothy Carpenter spent Friday night with Miss Lou Ann Miller.
