Announces Warden
Raymond Johnson, Chief Forest Warden of Rappahannock County states that from March 1st to May 15th- the Brush Burning; Law is effective in Rappahannock County. This law prohibits the burning of brush, trash, or other , debris within 300 feet of Woodland, or in inflammable material Which would lead to woodland, except between 4 .-00 p. m. and 12:00 midnight.
This law is a fire prevention measure which helps to decrease the danger of forest fires quring the dry spring period, at. which time forest fire danger is highest. The law has been effective in curb-. ing the number of fires in the County, but the danger of fires escaping after 4:00 p. m. is still present. Johnson encourages everyone to bum only after 4:00 p.' m.j,and
then only on a calm, moist j day. Prevention measures to prevent the fire from escaping should be taken because, regardless ofl the tiftie a fire is started, any person who allows a fire to escape because of carelessness is responsible for tha * cost of suppression.
