EGGS !
Eggs should be steady to strong this week.
Indications are that we have turned the corner on peak production, and prices should respond wjith at least steadiness. And as soon as the lessening of quanity begins to be felt, there should be some strength.
Markets may be reflecting the change already, with some improvements during the past week. Richmond picked up !2c to reach 42c; Harrisonburg held its 42c level; and Roanoke dipped one cent to 40c New York - an influence on Virginia markets, picked up 2c to top jat 46c
Production figures of May 1st shed a little more encouragement on fall egg prospects. The report shows about 2 % more young chickens than last yeaty where up to 8% had been predicted. This reduces the prospect of an overabundance of eggs,in the fall.
However, there is still the factor of higher egg production per bird to take into consideration. Too, with a more favorable egg price outlook for fall, may be done in birds production.
