Mrs. Wade Pullen was hostess to the combined home makers clubs from Amissville and Flint Hill, Tuesday evening. TTiere were about thirty women and children vyho enjoyed the demonstration on barbecue cooking. Using an old ham boiler lined with foil and charcoal for fuel, Mrs. Powers, home agent showed the ladies how to broil chicken, corn and potatoes •on the grill and in the coals. She also prepared a meal in a can, enough for two people. This was cooked in the coals. Some of the ladies helped with the demonstration and cooked a stew, prepared hot bread and a relish tray. The hostess served hot coffee with theV food.
Flint Hill W. S. C. S. met with Mrs. C. G. Reid in Washington Thuijwlay evening. Rev. .A. D. Goodson was present and gave a report on the recent annual conference in Harrisonburg. Mrs. W. A. Buntin, county welfare worker gave a report on her work, telling the women how people wens eligible to get public welfare assistance, and how the funds were not enough to care for children and aged people who were helpless. She asked that the group consider clothing one child as a project. This was not voted upon at the meeting but was tabled to be discussed at the next meeting.
