Do you grow Orchard Grass? If so you’ll be interested to know that: 100 lbs. of nitrogen, 48 lbs. of phosphoric acid and 48 lbs. of potash gave the most economical veilds of seed (443 lbs.) and hay (5204 lbs.)per acre oh Davidson soil at ■ the Orange Experiment Station. This plant food can be obtained from 500 lbs. of 10-10-10 applied say. in early March with the extra nitrogen (250 lbs. calnitro or equivalent) applied now. While there is no known Davidson soil in Rappahannock we do have many soils that are similar in productivity. Actually most of our orchard grass is grown on Brandywine soil which is somewhat less productive but yet well adopted to rochard. grass for pasturage, hay or seed.
