Madison Livestock Market's big feeder calf sale last Friday, April 5th, was a great success. Rain that poured down in torrents all day and during the sale at night, failed to dampen the interest of buyers. 'There were 429 head of cattle on hand, and with such buyers as Horse Shoe Farm, Otis Bowman, Garland Kidd, Harvey Cornwell, Tinse Berry and a host of others, prices shot up to where two pens of steers sold for 23.10 per hundred. The majority of the steers Uroughf from 21.00 to 23.00.
Rain, hitting on the tin roof with a roar, never phased auctioneer Champ Blankenbaker. He turned up the volume on his loadspeaked and kep on chanting.
Although advertised as a 400 head sale, the total volume reached was 429 head Manager Doug Tucker said he felt confident the rain kept away at least another 100 head. The largest single buyer was Horse Shoe Farm with 69 head.
Manager Tucker said that starting April 15th, the Market will have a state grader at its reguar Monday sales to grade veal calves and lambs.
Washington Theatre To Have A New Cinemascope Screen
Mr. B. R. Armel, owner and operator of T/A Washington Theatre, is busy this week instaling Cinemascope. Soon longer and newer moving pictures will be shown.
The first cinemascope picture, “Second Greatest Sex," will be shown on Tuesday, April 23.
Mr. Armel is planning to bring many good pictures to Washington
