^ Is There A Need For A County Fire Ass*n? It has been brought to the attention of the Rappahannock News that several members of the fire companies in the counts' would like to start a County Firemen's Association. This would not mean that the companies would go together as one company, but that they would learn to work together as a unit then -v relay their ideas to their individual companies It has been suggested that the officers of the fi\e companies, the rescut squads and the chief forest warden meet every 30 to 6h days to work out many of their problems, and to see if thev could agree to map out districts in which each company Would be lesponsible. and if another/company w*s needed out of their district, the chief or an officer in charge woultj call the adjoining company. Another point was to let the companies have drills together so that the men could get familiar with each other's equipment and learn to work together. . • It was thought by the president of one of the companies that if at any time there was a building fire in the county that one of the Rescue Squads could be notified to furnish protection to the firemen in case of aunts or smoke. In this way the squads, could stay fit. This would be only in buildings or large forest fires or if the need came up. Many other points have been given, but we are bringing this to mind to see if the companies are interested in organizing such an association If such an association was organized, it would certainly save many hours and a great deal of money. The reason for just the officers was to eliminate a great deal of. confusion and cut down the members in such an association. It would not mean that interested persons could not attend. Fire and Rescue Protection is EVERY OSES BUSINESS. We would appreciate it if you as companies and as individuals would talk, this over and let the News know what you think PRO and CON. We think it would be beneficial to the county. It was suggested that the Companies take turns in being hosts to the meetings in that wa<* the traveling would be the same for all companies; Let’s see if we can organize this association and all FIGHT FIRE TOGETHER in the countv. -
