Thf U. S. Department ot Agri' culture today announced that provisions of the 1958 wool incentive program will be the same as those for the current marketing year.

The 1958 program will apply to wool and lambs marketed during the April 1, 1958 to March 51. 1959 period. The shorn wool incentive price for the 1958 marketing year, as previously announced (press release USD A 2999 - Oct. 4. 1957). will be 62 cents per pounds. This is the same as incen-x five' price? for the 1955, 1956 and 1957 marketing years. The payments on marketings of shorn wool and lambs that have never been shorn are based on this incentive price. .

As under previous programs, the payment rate for shorn wool will be the percentage required to bring the national average price received bv all producers for sales duringthe 1958 marketing year up to the 62-cent incentive level.

Producers who market Wool during the 1958 marketing year up to the 62-cent incentive level.

Producers who market wool during the 1958 .marketing year will be eligibe for payments which will be an- amount equal to the percentage rate’times the proceeds from the sale of their wool. (For the 1956 marketing year.' for which wool payments were made this past summer, the payment rate : water 40 per cent, which resulted in a pavment of $40 for every $100 producers received from wool, sales. The payment rate for the ' 1955 year, the- first year of the program, was 44.9 per ccnt.^
