The 71-cent per hundredweight payment for 1956 was five (the average poundage weight of wool per hundred pounds of lamb) times 14.2 cents, which is 80 per cent of the difference between the average price of 44.3 cents producers - received for their 1956 marketings and the incentive price of 62 cents for- shorn wool. The payment for 1958 lamb marketings will be determined in this same manner. The lamb payment is designed to discourage unusual shearing of lambs prior to slaughter.
