Virginia's beef cattle producers, livestock "market men, and meat s,packers will gather at Natural Bridge on February 17th and 18th to discuss current mutual problems of their industry. The “Virginia Beef Congress” will hear Secre' tary of Agriculmre, Ezra Taft i Benson, speak at its closing session. Seven state organizations are 4 jointly sponsoring the two-way ‘ event: The Beef Producers and Peeder-Calf-Yearling Association, Meat Packers Association, Livestock Auction Market Association, Reef Cattle Imorqvement AssociV tion, and three purebred beef cattle Associations. Angus, Hereford, and Shorthorn. .The opening -session will be poo tinted by the Virginia Beef Cattle 'Improvement Association, which conducts comparative performance tests on the beeff-making characteristics of cattle throughout the state. The purebred Associations, which com’ prise herds which furnish bulls to the commercial cattlemen, will all hold meetings on the afternoon of February 17th. and, the Hereford ind Shorthorn Associations will hold their Annual Meetings and elect officers and directors for the coming year. Walter M. Lewis, nationally known breeder of polled H^-^fo'-d cattle and now President of rhe American Hereford Asswciation will address the Annual Banquet of the Hereford breeders. ;i CL T.
