a side dish of rosy baked apples

The secret of Grandmother’s •ookies, we learned as' we grew •p, was her skill in working with a very soft dough. Deftly she rolled out the soft, fragrant dough until it was almost paper* thin. Then she cut round cook* !<■* that always seemed perfect, $ W ien we i tried making the cookie’. the dough' stuck to the b ard and to the, rolling pin. So we added flour, and the cook* . tes came out tough and hard ■ Instead of crisply tender. Grandmother just smiled.

Nowadays, few of us have time for laborious rolling out of dough and cutting out of . cookies, no matter bow delicious ■ the results. To our great delight.
