Who has no skeletons in 'h» closet ? Yet all of say . ■“Did you.hear about Joe or Mary? Wasn’t it terrible? I don’t see why she didn’t do thus and so?’’ How many of us would have done "thus and so’ in Mary’s place? Do we really know the circumstances surrounding her actions? Every where you go there is r .gossip, but especially in a small town Everyone knows what Joe Smith-is doing or dwnk they know. Many times what* is taken for a fact is wrong. Maybe Mary Jones said something about Joe to his sister just joking or as a harmless . comment. Mrs. Smith hears ft and Cakes it differently than Mary" meant it. Mrs. Smith tells Mrs*. John DoeSvho tells her best friend Agatha plus a ‘little *touch’of her* own,' so it grows and ends up as something that kjMmpletely false. In the meantime Joe’s reputation inky have been ruined. This is die ^result of maliciou# gossip.

Often, something is accepted 4a true because Mary Jones said so, t otdnsTs the right thing to do because that is what John Doe ;|i doing. No one stops .to question whether Mary or John zjt right,.

M<$t people would rather believe something bad about^someone than some thing good because it boosts their, owjs^ego. We judge others by harder' rules than we judge ourselves. There is usually some excuse for what we'do, but die other fellow must do exaedy right. So are people’s minds, every one of us. There is one thing we should remember. How we judge die other fellow may determine how he will judge us.
