Mrs. Spalding, who had part time help, met with the Compensation Board last November to request full time help and an annual salary,increase of $200, which was tentatively granted despite strenuous protest from some of the supervisors. In March of this year two supervisors met with-the three members of the Compensation Board and compromised, to allow Mrs. Spalding office assistance for 7/10 of the time and a $100 salary increase, at which time she took an appeal.
Testifying for Mrs. Spalding, who was represented by Mr. Jack Fray of Culpeper., were her assistant, Mrs. Harry Lee Smith, county Commonwealth’s Attorney J, W. Price who was disqualified to act for the supervisors since he ^ appeared as-.a witness for Mrs. Spalding; Mrs. G. W. Smith, Jr* Mrs. M. R. Bradford,' Mr. James Yates, ana Mr. Raymond Rudy, State Tax Examiner. Supervisor Herbert Foster, Mr. Wade Massie and Mr. Wade Massie, III were introduced to the court as witnesses for Mrs. Spalding.
Supervisor E. M. Jones, represented by Mr. Sloan Kuykendall,, gave the only adverse testimony.
