John Leonard Carter, son of the late Charles and Delia B. -Carter, died suddenly Monday morning while ar work at the American Viscose plant in Front Royal, ' where he had been employed for 19 years..
He was a deacon and a member of the First Baptist Church, Washington and served as president of the Usher Board, a„member of the v Board of Trustees, the A. G. ^Richardson Mens Culb of hi* church, and a member of the St. Luke Grand Lodge of Front Royal and the Pride of Warren Lodge No. 486.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Carter; two brothers, Eugene M. Carter of Chicago, 111. and Lepear B. Carter of Pittsburgh,'Pa.; a stepson, Sgt. Anthony White of Cheyenne, Wyo., and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. U. S. Brokenburr conducting the last rites, assisted by Rev. R. C. Davis. The body will be brought to the church on Augsut 6th.
The Edna M. Stafford* Musicale, which is the ninth annual presentation by the combined choirs of the Blue Ridge Baptist Association, with the Rev. J. J. Jackson as moderator will be held at the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Daniels; Va. in Orange County, of which Rev. F. F. Thompson is pastor, on Sunday August 9th. 1959 at 8:00 p.m.
