Sheep Producers To

Vote In Referendum

Sheep producers will vote in September in a nation-wide referendum on the question of continuing to finance a market development program for wool and lambs, H. S. Barksdale, chairman of the County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee has announced. The program consists oi advertising, promotion, and related activities carried out under an agreement with the American Sheep Producers Council. It is financed by deductions from wool incentive payments earned by producers under the National Wool Program. The deductions, Mr. Barksdale said, may not exceed the rates of 1 cent per pound for shornwool and 5 centtf per hundred weight for lambs.

The program, which has been in effect since 1955, will be continued through 1961 if producers owning two-thirds of the sheep and lambs represented in the vote approve.

Voting will extend through the entire month, of September to make it as easy as possible for all producers to participate. The county Continued on page ten
