Five automobile accidents occured on Rappahannock highway; in two days taking two lives and causing serious injury »nd damage.
On August 30, two colored men were killed and another seriously injured1 vvhen tffie cSr in wWcfcTtoT were riding skidded into a free.
Dead were Irvin Noakea, 19 of Boston. Va. and James Ferris, 18 of Reva., Va. The driver of the qar was not injured. August 30 on Route 211 a mile and a half east of Sperryville a 1956 Ford sedan owned and operated by Joining L. Watts of Strasburg was hit from the rev by a 1957 Mercury sedan owned and operated by Thomas H, Williams of Falls Church, when Williams was unable to stop behind a slow moving line of traffic. Approximate damage was $400. On Route 729 a mile south of Flint HH1 on August 30 at 2'45 p.m. a 1951 Ford sedan driven by Gen. Sherman Jett of Hillsboro and a 1948 Chevrolet sedan ©pe>a ted by Charles Pendleton of Warren ton met or. a curve and side swiped each other. Approximate damage was $425. Two accidents happened on Route 211 four miles west of Amissville on the morning of August 31. Slippery highways during a rain was the cause of both.
