John M, Larson, formerly with Community Planning Associates of West Trenton, N. J.( has joined the Area Development Department of the Potomac Edison System as Community Development and Planning Consultant.
Primarily, Larson will work with local civic leaders and agencies to help than develop a program of planned community growth and encourage projects and improvements that will make communities more attractive to indusr try and a better place to live and work.
During his initial months with Potomac Edison, Larson is visiting all parts of the Potomac Edison service area, becoming acquainted with the communities, company personnel and community leaders.
Potomac ^Edison is one of the few public utility companies with a professional planner on its staff providing a consultanting service to its communities.

Look for steady to stronger hog prices during the next few weeks.
Prices are expected to continue on the usual upward seasonal pattern except for some week-to-week fluctuations caused by weather conditions in the Mid-West, which could affect the supply in major central markets.
Slaughter since September has been running 10 to 15 percent under a year earlier. Based on farrowing* it seems that slaughter will remain under a year ago, until early spring.
After that, the supply based on fall pig crop estimates will be five to 10 percent above a year ago. This relationship will probably continue on into the fall of 1961, The upturn in hog production which began last October was the quickest diange on record. The fall pig crop for the U.S. was 41,599,000 head, down three percent from the previous year. All regions showed declines, with the 10 percent drop in the South Atlantic States being the greatest decrease of any geographical area. But, based on the farmers’ intentions, the number of sows expected to farrow in spring 1961 is forecast at four percent above spring of 1960. Hogs in Richmond were quoted at $18.00 to $18.50» with the same prices in Southeastern Virginia. Virginia auctions averaged $18-25, Baltimore i$18.75, ayid Western markets $17 to $18.50.
