teen Mrs. Harcourt Lees-Motor Service Harry F. Gray - Chapter Chairman The movement toward an American Red Cross began early in 1861 when Clara Barton in early 1861 attended the sick and wounded on the Civil War battlefields. In Virginia alone she helped more than 3000 wounded soldiers to safety in the Second Battle of Manassas. Today as the Red Cross embarks upon its second century of service each of us has an opportunity to become apart of this humanitarian tradition.

Earn Hiking Badge
Boy Scout Troop #65 of Sperryville took a 20-mile hike on April 21 to earn their hiking merit badge. Scouts who went were C.E. Dodson, Jackie Brown, Roy Reeve, Tim Kilby, Leslie Titchenell, and Mike Brown. They were accompanied by Scoutmaster Sonny Brown. All were tired, but happy with their accomplishment.
